How Sad a Passage

COUNTESS "This young gentlewoman had a father,--O, that 'had'! how sad a passage 'tis!--whose skill was almost as great as his honesty; had it stretched so far, would have made nature immortal, and death should have play for lack of work." -Act I scene i, All's Well that Ends Well.

Out of Pocket

Friday.

Hard to believe that the last time I recorded some thoughts here was back a week before the World Cup.  How long ago it seems, those 8 live games and the FA Cup final as well, all serving as a glorious introduction to an overlong summer.  As thoughts hover over various escapades past, present, and future.  Whales and sunsets and rekindling of a sort in NL, boat issues and scheduling conflicts on the SC limiting the hours on the water (but what has been experienced thus far has been, as they say, some good), Keji and Murph camping and NS hiking and cottage and McNab's - ah yes, all intriguing and all amidst growing rogue deceptivity and "doing what you want when you want" and all sorts of various stuff on the go.  What is it all about except to serve as precursor to larger thoughts about the 'morrows?

Yes, responding to concerns about ditches and other assorted conversations, all the while thoughts reflecting on new knots and visions of scenes (and possible recordings) to come?  You tire too easily, in search of what is new, clearly.  That is not an excuse, it is just what it is, alas and alas and alas.

The work rolls on as it does, too.  Environment and profitability, royalties and statements o' claim, regulation and cost recoveries that surely tick by with or without you.  No surprise that in such a context, the thoughts continue to turn to the "without" option, to the purchase of a retreat and the picking up of the pen, and having time unvarnished to revel in.  To be firmly out of pocket with no sense of an "until".  Even knowing this will take many further hours to realize, it is comforting all the same.  Collect the funds and experiences in the interim, daydream about the options, and see how long you can last before the levee breaks.

You said it before and it came true so say it again, with vigour.  It is coming.  Trust in that.
