Belize it
So another trip with another random straggler gets booked. Will we be able to keep this one on the d/l from the family, I wonder. Could at least make for a pretty hilarious inside joke over Christmas Eve. I think the trip is spaced out nicely enough even if she gets on the nerves... lots of relaxation for the first few days, lots of aimless wandering about Tikal (the place of sounds) that can be done alone, and then some time to kill in San Ignacio at the end of the run.
I like the trip as it hits all the boxes of beach, ruins (remains?), and without too much messing about. A new country for 2015 and then another for 2016 right off the top, plus ending the year of islands with another masterful one. Once the idea emerged as an alternative to Chile, Colombia, and Venezuela, there was only ever going to be one outcome. To get to use the United credit to bring the price down to a reasonable level was a sweet bonus, and a reminder of who you are running off to avoid.
Before then, if the weather holds through Tropical Cyclone Henri, there could be an overnight on the boat this weekend, followed by the Tancook exploration in one exactly one week's time. My oh my how will that one play out, through health challenges and the like. Seems a natural end of a foolish little tryst, but one worth reporting on the tape when it rolls around next June. It is another nicely held secret and it is to laugh. It has taught some things, I suppose, and if nothing else has been entertaining.
Shame about the lack of contact, the "private conversation" following the glorious second viewing of Midsummer Night's Dream perhaps inevitable but still frustrating. I do wonder what 2016 might hold on that front, as it is not impossible. Four months is probably a decent amount of time in the end. Turns out Neptune's Yellow Sands will be walked in Belize, a perfect place for new resolutions for a new year. Now to wait it out, through Oktoberfest and potentially one more companion ride before the annual Xmas festivities. Lots to be excited about for these last few months. Including the unlikely Cabot golf game at month's end. How will that play out? Time to start hitting some balls soon!
