How Sad a Passage

COUNTESS "This young gentlewoman had a father,--O, that 'had'! how sad a passage 'tis!--whose skill was almost as great as his honesty; had it stretched so far, would have made nature immortal, and death should have play for lack of work." -Act I scene i, All's Well that Ends Well.

Day upon day of this wandering gets you down...

And so. Safely moved in to the new place, with new wireless connection and new television/couch for the same old shows. Helpful in triggering renewed enthusiasm for the gym and a start again at healthy eating, although the old predictable lethargy remains. Even amidst the blue skies and ever warmer sun.

Awhile since sending an update here, flipping through old emails and posts, popping down to NYC for another brief spin through the lovely confines of Manhattan and songs of Broadway. Farwell to Raymond Walker after Koe's fabulous finish at the Brier. Magical reading from Alistair MacLeod. Farewell to C. after a too-prolongued time muddling through that bizarre situation, and surprising call-out from L. on St. Pat's that ended, disappointingly, as should have been expected, through to the cancelled film. And a typical Easter home.

Another month ticked off, further funds collected and debt repaid. Another 140 or so hours crossed off the list. The course finished and marking soon to be wrapped up. Good conversation with M. about Costa Rica and similar ambitions. European return for the bulls booked and organized ahead of a lazy August and buzy Fall.

As the clock ticks on, and plans far out into the future made soon after the return remain attractive, but there is a need to put them a bit out of mind for a time. Focus on the present. Focus on improvement. Focus on stories. Focus on 'newness' - new routines and new interests. Not sure what yet, but let's do a few things prior to June and then enjoy the summer as expected. You've earned it. Soon the loan will be gone, and freedom to take flight - for real this time - will be secured. Don't waste the year in between just waiting. Eh?

A mile and a half on a bus takes a long time...
